67. WrestleMania XIX GameCube game commercial! This game was the most No Mercy a game would be that generation. Awful collision detection and no story mode (well a brawler that is not good) but a fun roster that they even squeezed Goldberg into.

    1. Weird to think that they used to be so heavily into vehicle entrances and they’ve pretty much dried up now. No more JBL, no Eddie, not even Del Rio…Sasha Banks did one and Rusev had the tank, IIRC that’s it in recent times.

    1. Funny thing is, those are two names of my grandmother’s friends when I was a kid.

    1. I feel like it would if this was PPV, but for TV it’s a good way to pace the match for commercials

92. Once I finally saw this (goddamn hurricane), I remember not liking the psychology of the falls. Interested to see how that plays out on rewatch.

93. Went to a Smackdown house show a few days before this, w/ Brock and Angle in the main event. Everyone was hoping they’d go an hour as a trial run for this match, but alas, it was just a really good normal length Angle/Lesnar encounter.

    1. Crazy that they could just roll those dudes out night to night.

       1. I heard that a couple markets (Norfolk Scope?) actually DID get Angle and Lesnar going the hour on house shows, so it was not outside the realm of possibility. So yeah, fucking crazy looking back!

          1. Pretty cool treat for a Smackdown House Show to see them face off before this.

             1. Didn’t Bret and Owen do a run of iron man’s on the loop in late 94-early 95?

94. Hm. The “sacrifice a fall to gain the advantage” is a move for the middle portion of the match, not the first fall. Don’t get me wrong, I love it as a strategy (thanks, Rock/HHH).

       1. For sure, just in time for me as I am in October 97 right now.

          1. For as much shit as people give it, Thunder really was an “important” show for storyline purposes throughout 1998 at least. 1999 I’ll grant you it was fuckshit garbage. But then you get into the Russo stuff for 2000 when it’s absolutely bonkers (including a shitload of title changes). I don’t know if I even saw any 2001 Thunders, but interested to check ’em out.

             1. I know one Thunder in the Russo era has that 41 Man Battle Royal.

    1. Being there, I remember the entire match flying by.

99. OK, the pacing is pretty fucked now with Brock now going up three falls (not to mention it happening during the commercial).

100. Neither gut looks completely blown up. Probably could go another 20 mins or so.

101. Kurt’s awareness of the clock driving his offense is a nice attention to detail.

104. I like the structure here where Kurt was down big but failed to come back… different than most iron mans.

105. Yeah… very watchable match, don’t get me wrong, but shitty ass booking of the second half hurts it.

106. I need to watch HHH/Rock and Cena/Shawn again. I know where I stand with Bret/Shawn

     1. HHH/Rock holds up impressively. Cena/Shawn, while not an iron man, makes me wish they’d done that match at WM.
