World Championship Wrestling aired a show taped on February 28 from Altoona, PA. In the main event, U.S. Tag Team Champions Brian Pillman and Tom Zenk faced the Midnight Express in a ***1/2 match. The post-match angle was great, as Cornette held a tennis racket over Pillman’s throat and the MX executed a rocket launcher. The announcers mentioned that Cornette hinted that he found out something about Pillman’s past. This was originally supposed to be a storyline that would play on Brian Pillman’s real life history of throat cancer, but booker Jim Barnett nixed the angle and forbid the announcers from mentioning Pillman’s history, claiming that they should save it for the day that Pillman was a bigger star. The show did a 3.3 rating.
