WWE Main Event

April 8th, 2014

Announcers: Tom Phillips & Byron Saxton

*We start with a recap of Raw with Triple H interrupting Bryan’s title celebration and the set-up of Triple H against Bryan. Full recap of Raw (about 5 minutes) and it ends with the Shield helping Bryan fight off Evolution/Authority. Then we start the show and it’s SIERRA HOTEL and out come the Shield in their sweet ass facemasks.

*The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family

It’ll be tough to top the first two times these six faced off. Dean Ambrose slaps Erick Rowan and his sheep mask to start the match. Shield begins with a quick flurry of offense. Seth Rollins rolls Rowan into a sort of reverse black widow, taking him to the ground. Rowan breaks out and all six men stare each other down in the ring. We go to a COMMERCIAL BREAK, which I guess is just the minute long Legend’s House commercial. We come back and Bray Wyatt is with Rollins. Bray hits a stomach crusher for two and keeps Rollins in his corner. Rowan tags in and works down Rollins. Luke Harper nails a clothesline. YEAH YEAH YEAH! Rollins flips out of the corner and throws Harper into the corner and tags out to Roman Reigns. Reigns runs through Harper with clotheslines and tags in Ambrose and the duo hit a reverse 3D. Ambrose gives a shot to Rowan but walks into a big boot. Bray tags in and hits a big splash in the corner. Ambrose gets worked over by all members of the Wyatts. Rowan just gives him a Crush Compacter for the duration of the heat segment. Rowan tosses Ambrose to the outside as we go to another COMMERCIAL BREAK, for an ad for the Ultimate Warrior DVD. Still can’t believe what happened Tuesday after seeing him at Mania and on Raw.

Harper drops an elbow and then alligator rolls Ambrose into a headlock. Ambrose fights out and does his crazy striking, but Harper catches a boot and whips him to the ground. Bray chokes Ambrose on the second rope and then kicks him off. Rowan tags in and drops some knees in the corner. Rowan then locks in a bear hug. Ambrose tries fighting out and gets a sleeper, but Rowan falls back to break it. Harper clubs Ambrose with uppercuts, but Ambrose hits a clothesline off one. Wyatt tries another corner charge, but Ambrose hits a boot. Ambrose headbutts out of a superplex attempt and comes off the top, but jumps right into Bray’s chokeslam. All six guys come in and Harper kicks Reigns off the apron and then hits a tope, knocking Reigns over the announce table. SPIDER WALK into the Sister Abigail, but Ambrose rolls up Bray for two. Dean then hits a DDT before making the hot tag to Rollins. Rollins runs crazy hitting his somersault plancha onto Rowan and knocking Harper off the apron. Everyone gets involved and Bray hits his running forearm to Dean, but Reigns drops him with the Superman punch. Reigns hits the apron dropkick to Rowan and Rollins hits the curb stomp off the top and then Ambrose adds the bulldog driver for the win. Not quite as balls to the walls as Elimination Chamber, but still amazing. I’d actually put it a bit ahead of their Chicago match. Easy 1 for 1 and possibly the top match ever on Main Event.

Renee interviews the Shield and Ambrose is hacking up a lung. “Renee do I look like I’m faceless baby?” And with that I’m pretty sure Renee Young has just again been impregnated by Roman Reigns. The fans chant Reigns name. Reigns says his name and tells Triple H he’s the guy who speared him on Monday night. The Shield says they are ready for anything the Authority has in store for them.

*Adam Rose party bus promo. Recap of Undertaker losing then another ad set to “Celebrate” about celebrities on WWE.

*Jack Swagger w/Zeb vs. Dolph Ziggler

Shockingly people still chant “We the People.” I thought that was only because people were behind Cesaro. Dolph Ziggler attacks to start but Jack Swagger counters and hits a Swagger Bomb for two. Swagger adds some knees and works over Dolph, but Dolph back body drops Swagger out of the ring and then goes for a neckbreaker, but Swagger spears Dolph’s knee. Swagger goes for the Swagger Bomb again, but Dolph puts up the boot and rolls up Swagger for two. Swagger tries the Patriot Lock, but Dolph fights out of it and hits a fame-asser for two. Swagger hits a big boot and only gets two. Dolph lands his spike DDT for two. Swagger goes for an electric chair drop, but Dolph rolls him up for just two. Dolph charges but Jack hits a flap-jack into the Patriot Lock and gets the tap out win. A pretty nice back and forth match. 2 for 2

*Bo Dallas wants you to become a BO-LIEVER.

*Sin Cara vs. Rusev w/Lana

This is a quite a squash. Goes about a minute before Rusev locks in the Camel Clutch or the Accolade for the win. Not a technical masterpiece but got the point across. 3 for 3

Final Thoughts: Oh my God the first 30 minutes are amazing and make it an easy thumbs-up. Then you get a good Swagger-Dolph match and a nice quick Rusev squash.
