Sci-fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant – Hollywood Studios (Commissary Lane)
This was the first place we ate. It is a diner set up like a drive-in theater. It’s very dark with a beautiful, clear night sky above you and a movie screen in front of you. Your “table” is actually a 1950’s style convertible. The screen shows clips from various sci-fi classics, as well as some sci-fi themed cartoons. They feature a variety of menu items that accompany the “drive-in theater” theme as well. I did not get a picture of my husband’s food, but here is what I got.

The All American Picnic Burger can only be described as a delicious heart attack waiting to happen. This giant burger had a flame broiled angus beef party and was topped with sautéed onions, ketchup, mustard, and a grilled hotdog. Yes a hotdog! It came with sauerkraut as well but I opted against it. This burger was worth every penny of its hefty price. The ONLY thing I could imagine that might have made it better would have been a slice of American cheese!
My husband got house-smoked St. Louis-style pork ribs. These bad boys cost a whopping $21.99! This was one of the few dishes of his that I didn’t try. He said they were “alright.” Decent enough for the price, I suppose. All I could think sitting in the drive-in theater style restaurant while my husband ate ribs was “looks a lot like the opening of the Flintstones!”
For dessert, my husband got a $4.99 chocolate milkshake that tasted like “a milkshake.” I ordered the pictured above Sci-fi Candy Bar. “White and dark chocolate mousse layered with crispy pearls, sandwiched between sponge cake, and dipped in chocolate ganache.” Basically, it was a twinkie dipped in chocolate. The “crunchy pearls” had become soggy from sitting in the mousse. It wasn’t awful, but it was definitely the worst dessert we had while at Disney.
