Be Our Guest Restaurant – Magic Kingdom (Fantasyland)
If you are a fan of Disney movies, I’m sure you’ve guessed that this restaurant has a Beauty and the Beast theme. If you have never seen the movie, I highly recommend it. It is such a beautiful love story about looking past people’s outer shell and see who they are on the outside. Or it’s a weird story about Stockholm Syndrome; depending on how you look at it.
We made all of our dinner reservations in advance, and didn’t think that lunch reservations would be an issue. Once we were in Disney, I got a message through my My Disney Experience app (highly recommend this free app for your trip) inviting us to come “Be our guest” for lunch. We were given the option to make reservations AND pre-order our meal. For lunch, this restaurant is a “quick service” so we decided to give it a try.
When we arrived, there was a line with at least 100 people in it. I can only imagine the wait time! Since we had reservations, we were escorted to the front of the line, where we were instructed to just go find a seat in one of their three dining rooms. We chose one and had a seat. The dining room was set up like the ball room scene from the classic movie. It was so beautiful. I was mostly confused about how we were going to get our food. No one came up and asked us who we were or what we ordered. Then, out of the blue a waiter pushing a food cart says “Mademoiselle Price?” Whoa! Mind blown! I still haven’t figured out how he knew it was us. We sat ourselves!

I had the roast beef sandwich. When trying to find the proper description, I noticed that this item had been removed from the menu. Having had this menu item, I cannot argue with their decision. The meat was considerably lacking flavor. The sandwich was also quite dry. In my opinion a simple au jus dipping sauce would have done wonders for this sandwich.
My husband had the other sandwich, and of course, I had to try it! This sandwich is described as “grilled sandwich of carved ham, gyurere cheese, and bechamel.” Honestly, the only thing I got from the description was a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. We looked up bechamel and it is some sort of white cream sauce very popular in French cuisine. That still doesn’t tell me much. All I know is the sandwich was amazing! It was not dry, and it was incredibly flavored. It was definitely worth the $10.99 price.
CUPCAKES!!! I bake a lot, so I’m very critical of any baked goods. I am very proud of my cupcakes and get really disappointed in almost every cupcake I try. That being said, I would likely pay a large sum of money to anyone who could get me the recipe and secrets to these cupcakes! The cupcakes were so moist, they almost needed to be eaten with a spoon! The chocolate was a triple chocolate made of a delicate chocolate cake with a smooth ganache icing, filled with a fudge icing, and topped with a dark chocolate square that read “be our guest.” The strawberry was a vanilla cupcake with a strawberry cream cheese icing and topped with a whole, sugared strawberry. For $2.99, they were a bit small, but I would gladly have bought 100 of them if I knew they would have made it home! By far, these are the best cupcakes I have ever eaten! Seriously, if anyone knows the recipe… Email me!
