Chad Campbell: Bash at the Beach 1994 (23,3; 69th Overall)
JT’s Take: High quality choice here with a historically significant main event blending eras as Hulk Hogan arrives but the undercard is still littered with vestiges of old school WCW. One of the last great WCW PPVs for a while and a strong pick here. 22 for 23
Chad Campbell: No Mercy 2008 (24,1; 70th Overall)
JT’s Take: Chad continues to build an amazing stack of secondary shows with one of the best offerings of 2008. Topped with a Michaels/Jericho MOTYC and the ascent of Jeff Hardy, this is a high value selection to bolster an already impressive roster. 23 for 24
Graham Cawthon: WrestleMania VII (24,2; 71st Overall)
JT’s Take: Tip top value here as Graham continues to clean up his WrestleManias after a shaky start. A fantastic show with an all time classic and some of the best across the board storytelling in WWF history. 16 for 24
Greg Phillips: WrestleMania VIII (24,3; 72nd Overall)
JT’s Pick: Good choice here. The Manias are starting to fly and Chad still needs two more, so Greg takes his favorite left. The show features two top flight title matches and is filled with memorable moments, no complaints here. 20 for 24
Greg Phillips: Royal Rumble 2003 (25,1; 73rd Overall)
JT’s Take: Greg sat back on the Rumbles and as a result the majority of strong offerings have gone off the board. I don’t think this was the best one left but I do think it is a somewhat underrated show. Fine pick. 21 for 25
Graham Cawthon: Royal Rumble 1990 (25,2; 74th Overall)
JT’s Take: Graham has really bounced back over the last few picks, taking an overlooked Rumble. This is the pick Greg should have made. With some fun undercard matches and a really good Rumble match, Graham gets very strong value, which he badly needed in the Rumble slots. 17 for 25
Chad Campbell: SummerSlam 2000 (25,3; 75th Overall)
JT’s Take: The perfect example of a late round pick. Nothing that stands out, but nothing bad. A good space filler. 24 for 25
Chad Campbell: SuperBrawl III (26,1; 76th Overall)
JT’s Take: Shrewd work here as Chad is the only one that has open WrestleMania slots left, so he sits on those. Instead he goes back to build up his “other promotions” section with a very fun card. The commentary for this show is tremendous and it features lots of good action and a hot crowd that leads into a stiff, strong main event. Great pick. 25 for 26
Graham Cawthon: Unforgiven 2000 (26,2; 77th Overall)
JT’s Take: And Graham’s hot streak comes to an end. Another decent show but there is better stuff out there still. 17 for 26
Greg Phillips: Survivor Series 1991 (26,3; 78th Overall)
JT’s Take: Reach city. Survivor Series doesn’t have a lot of depth but there are a couple more that I would have easily slotted ahead of this show. There is historical value but not much in terms of match quality. 21 for 26
Greg Phillips: Payback 2014 (27,1; 79th Overall)
JT’s Take: I like this selection here. An overlooked show with some strong offerings and good enough value this late in the draft. I would rather see a pick like this than taking a low level Survivor Series just to fill slots. 22 for 27
Graham Cawthon: In Your House #2 (27,2; 80th Overall)
JT’s Take: What? Lots of booing from Cawthon fans here. Sure, Jarrett/Michaels is great but there are plenty of secondary shows left that are much better than this offering here. Waste of a pick. 17 for 27
Chad Campbell: WrestleWar 1992 (27,3; 81st Overall)
JT’s Take: Fantastic value at this point in the draft. War Games! Dangerous Alliance! Chad. 26 for 27
Chad Campbell: Slamboree 1994 (28,1; 82nd Overall)
JT’s Take: Chad bangs a nail into his “other promotions” roster with another great pick. This is a real hidden gem of a show that comes in under the wire before the Hogan Era starts off. Tons of stuff to love on this card with lots of story progression and strong matches. 27 for 28
Graham Cawthon: WrestleWar 1990 (28,2; 83rd Overall)
JT’s Take: Graham bounces back here with a good WCW selection. His up and down draft continues. 18 for 28
Greg Phillips: Starrcade 1995 (28,3; 84th Overall)
JT’s Take: No strong feelings either way on this pick. There is enough good stuff here to make it worth a draft pick, but maybe a touch too high. 23 for 28
Greg Phillips: Invasion 2001 (29,1; 85th Overall)
JT’s Take: Greg didn’t sound confident in this pick but I like it. I feel this show is underrated by many but it has lots of historical value with a real good main event and a fun undercard. I like it. Greg is now done with secondary shows. 24 for 29
Graham Cawthon: World War III 1995 (29,2; 86th Overall)
JT’s Take: As the WCW pool thins, Graham makes a decent enough pick. I still think there are at least a handful of WCW shows, including overlooked ones from the dying days, that should be ahead of this, but no major gripes at this point. 19 for 29
Chad Campbell: Survivor Series 1992 (29,3; 87th Overall)
JT’s Take: Chad waited on taking Survivor Series and again the strategy pays off as he gets one of the better editions at the end of the draft after using early picks on better shows. 28 for 29
Chad Campbell: Survivor Series 1997 (30,1; 88th Overall)
JT’s Take: Again, historical significance through the roof and a real nice value pick at this point. Survivor Series as a whole are all very bunched together so no reason to force them in early. 29 for 30
Graham Cawthon: Wrestling Classic (30,2; 89th Overall)
JT’s Take: Graham claims this is a show unlikely to be on anyone else’s list. And he is right, because it stinks. But he still takes it in Round 30 with more picks to go. Poor strategy. 19 for 30
Greg Phillips: Survivor Series 1990 (30,3; 90th Overall)
JT’s Take: An OK choice but again there are at least two Survivor Series left that I would rank above this. Still, you get Undertaker’s debut and a some good matches and all the stars of the day. Fine at this point in the draft, but still a bit of a miss. 25 for 30
Greg Phillips: SummerSlam 1988 (31,1; 91st Overall)
JT’s Take: Eh, better options left here. Sure you get the historical value and the show is OK as a whole but he could have done better. I was generous with the previous pick but will ding him here. 25 for 31
Graham Cawthon: Great American Bash 1992 (31,2; 92nd Overall)
JT’s Take: Nice little pick here by Graham, picking up a hot Sting/Vader match and the continuation of the tag team tournament. Graham closes out his “other promotions” roster with a positive note. 20 for 31
Chad Campbell: SummerSlam 2009 (31,3; 93rd Overall)
JT’s Take: Chad finishes off his SummerSlams with a decent choice. Not the best show, but the pool is thin. I think there are two others I would have taken over this but no complaints overall. 30 for 31
Chad Campbell: King of the Ring 1993 (32,1; 94th Overall)
JT’s Take: Beautiful selection here. Nobody thought to look to KOTR as a secondary show but Chad picks up a top two edition at the bottom of the draft. Tremendous value. 31 for 32
Graham Cawthon: Royal Rumble 2008 (32,2; 95th Overall)
JT’s Take: Graham still needed two Rumbles and while I think waiting was an OK move considering the depth of the event, I think he waited too long. That said, he lucked out because he lands a solid show here late. The Cena surprise and MSG pop makes it all worth it. 21 for 32
Greg Phillips: Royal Rumble 2009 (32,3; 96th Overall)
JT’s Take: Again, a fine pick. I am nitpicking now but I think there are a few better out there than this one. I will give the benefit of the doubt as I can’t argue with preferences at this point. 26 for 32
Greg Phillips: Wrestle Kingdom IX (33,1; 97th Overall)
JT’s Take: I like it. This is exactly the type of pick you should make late in drafts. High risk, high reward. Good stuff and I am glad he waited to grab it. 27 for 33
Graham Cawthon: One Night Only 1997 (33,2; 98th Overall)
JT’s Take: Not as strong of a random pick as Greg, but I will give Graham the same credit for going outside the box. The crowd was hot for this one and between the main event and the Owen Hart/Vader match, you get a pair of very good bouts. 22 for 33
Chad Campbell: Survivor Series 2002 (33,3; 99th Overall)
JT’s Take: I am pretty surprised this show lasted as long as it did considering some of the other editions that were selected. A hot crowd, plenty of historical value and some good matches baked into a really good outing during the final days of WWE’s most robust roster. 32 for 33
Chad Campbell: WrestleMania XXIII (34,1; 100th Overall)
JT’s Take: Boom. Fantastic value to get this Mania this late. Smart of Chad to wait as he didn’t need to take this until now and he gets a classic. 33 for 34
Graham Cawthon: SummerSlam 2005 (34,2; 101st Overall)
JT’s Take: Another nice pick as SummerSlam continues to be one of Graham’s strongest roster slots. A wild main event and a strong undercard carry this one. 23 for 34
Greg Phillips: Survivor Series 2003 (34,3; 102nd Overall)
JT’s Take: Again Greg sounded defensive of this pick, but I think it is a strong choice to be honest. Especially at this point. You could argue it is better than ones that went way ahead of it, just on the back of Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff. 28 for 34
Greg Phillips: Royal Rumble 2012 (35,1; 103rd Overall)
JT’s Take: Another OK pick. A fun enough Rumble with a solid undercard. Can’t complain much here with the final pick. Although, I am surprised the 1995 Royal Rumble wasn’t chosen as I think the undercard of that show is superior to many that were selected. 29 for 35
Graham Cawthon: Royal Rumble 1994 (35,2; 104th Overall)
JT’s Take: Nice work by Graham here to close out his Rumbles and his draft with good choice. The Rumble match is fun overall and has a tremendous tag team title match stuffed into a historically significant package. 24 for 35
Chad Campbell: WrestleMania XIV (35,3; 105th Overall)
JT’s Take: Strong finish for Chad. 34 for 35
Final Thoughts: This was a really fun listen and I highly recommend it if you haven’t checked it out yet. It bore out in my point allotment, but Chad easily won this in my eyes. He had a great strategy in waiting on Survivor Series and it paid off as he still got some of the best installments. Also, with the way WrestleManias fell, Chad was able to put those in the bank until the very end and focus on filling out his depth instead. I thought Graham clearly lacked a clear startegy and allowed Greg and Chad to dictate his draft, with him often reacting instead of sticking to a plan. Greg had a strong outing overall but made just a few picks that sunk him in the end, with most being early reaches for shows that would have been there later on. The key to these is not to get caught up in nostalgic favorites early when they are likely to hang around for a while. Chad’s secondary shows are the strongest grouping overall in my opinion and after executing a nearly perfect draft, Mr. Campbell takes home the championship!
WINNER: Chad Campbell (34 for 35)
SECOND PLACE: Greg Phillips (29 for 35)
THIRD PLACE: Graham Cawthon (24 for 35)
