This past weekend, Ring of Honor made its return/debut to Pay Per View with Best In The World 2014. Let’s see what went down in the music city, Nashville, Tennessee:
ACH defeated BJ Whitmer, Caprice Coleman, Tadarius Thomas, Takaaki Watannabe and Tomasso Ciampa in Six Man Mayhem to become the #1 Contender to the ROH Television Championship
Jay Lethal retained his ROH Television Championship by defeating Matt Taven. This was Lethal’s sixth successful title defence of the ROH Television Championship.
Cedric Alexander made Roderick Strong submit in a Submission match
The Briscoe Brothers defeated Matt Hardy and Mike Bennett in a wild Grudge match
Kevin Steen defeated Silas Young
ReDRagon retained their ROH Tag Team Championship by defeating the returning Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. This was the DRagon’s second successful title defence of the ROH Tag Team Championship.
Michael Elgin became the 20th ROH Champion by defeating defending champion Adam Cole. Cole was unsuccessful in his fourteenth title defence.
It’s been confirmed that the promotion will be returning to Wheeling, West Virginia on Saturday September 27th. It’s also been announced that the second Future of Honor event will be held on Sunday July 27th in Laurel, Delaware and the first event of 2015 has been confirmed as the promotion will be holding their first set of television tapings in the Nashville Fairgrounds on Saturday January 3rd.
The first match has been announced for Future of Honor 2 as the Women of Honor will be in action, tag team action to be precise, as Jenny Rose and Veda Scott will team up to take on Mandy Leon and Hania. Also announced are the roster members who will be in attendance: the former eight-time ROH Tag Team Champions the Briscoe Brothers, one half of the current ROH Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish, and the current ROH Television Champion Jay Lethal.
Former ROH & IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks will be returning to the promotion for the final night of the Summer Heat Tour, Death Before Dishonor XII weekend and to Wheeling, West Virginia. Also, AJ Styles will be in attendance at Wheeling, West Virginia.
As announced last week, Adam Cole, ROH Tag Team champions ReDRagon and Mike Bennett with Maria will make an appearance at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax Final night, and their matches have been confirmed. Adam Cole and Mike Bennett will take on Captain New Japan and Jushin “Thunder” Liger and the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championship will be on the line as the ROH Tag Team Champions ReDRagon take on Time Splitters.
ROH Champion Michael Elgin, ROH Tag Team Champion Kyle O’Reilly, IWGP Champion AJ Styles, ACH and Cedric have all been announced for the 2014 edtion of PWG’s Battle Of Los Angeles.
Former NFL offensive linesman Quinn “Moose” Ojinnaka of the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and the Indianapolis Colts has officially signed a Ring of Honor contract. This 6’5” 295lb monster joins the ranks of many professional football players who have moved from the gridiron to the squared circle.
