Geoffrey Wessel (@StrongStylStory on Twitter) and Steve Cash (@stevecash) take themselves down memory lane, and hope you come along too. Production work: Chris Damasceno (@Brazilian_Fury).

Strong Style History Episode #5: The Island Deathmatches
While NJPW is often sublime, sometimes, it can be ridiculous. Strong Style Story’s Geoffrey Wessel and Lawrence O’Brien examines the complete debacles that were the two Island Deathmatches (Antonio Inoki v. Masa Saito, 10/4/19871 and Hiroshi Hase v. Tiger Jeet Singh, 12/18/1991, both from Ganryujima Island), the strange historical significance of the venue, and whether they were noble failures… or just failures.
Strong Style History Episode 6: NJPW Invasion Tour 2011 Attack on the East Coast
In the lieu of G1 Special in USA being two weeks away, Strong Style History host Geoffrey Wessel and producer/co-host Chris Damasceno (making his Strong Style History debut) take the time to go over New Japan’s first foray into American soil alongside Jersey All Pro Wrestling, some of the key events that occurred in its aftermath and the correlation of what occurred in those three shows to what we are about to see under NJPW’s first solo run show in U.S. soil six years later.
Strong Style History Episode 7: The Hashimoto vs Ogawa Feud
More often than not, there are rivalries that define an era in professional wrestling and in this edition of Strong Style History, hosts Geoffrey Wessel, Chris Damasceno and Lawrence O’Brien examine the complete history of the Shinya Hashimoto and Naoya Ogawa rivalry from 1997 to 2000 and the matches it spawned – including the controversial 1/4/1999 match at the Tokyo Dome which spiraled down into an outright shoot. They also explore the careers of both men and how this rivalry affected it alongside a discussion about “Inoki-ism” and how the Hashimoto/Ogawa matches may have further affected Inoki’s idea for New Japan Pro Wrestling moving into the future.
