Mild-mannered reporters by day, Greg Phillips and Nick Duke share an intense love of comic books that has made them the Hard-Traveling Fanboys. Now, by listener request, Greg and Nick are embarking on a chronological voyage through the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This month marks the much-anticipated (?) return of the Hard Travelers for Hire series as Nick and Greg take a look at the the movie that kicked off the MCU’s Phase II: the controversial Iron Man 3! It’s the most contentious installment yet, as Nick and Greg do battle over the pros and cons of the Shane Black film. Is the Mandarin a racial stereotype rooted in the past or a character ripe for reinvention? Does child actor Ty Simpkins annoy or impress? And is the movie’s divisive swerve a brilliant twist or a lazy cheat?
What do you guys think of Iron Man 3? Whose side of the debate do you fall on?
Felt this way pretty much since it came out… Iron Man 3>Iron Man 2. I felt the movie was an excellent culmination of Tony’s journey to becoming a better person and leaving a lot of his past behind him. A few awkwardly executed scenes in there and dumb moves (don’t give the bad guy your home address), but still a very fun movie that I still enjoy.
