Paulie’s Perspective: Oscar Nominations 2023

Oscar Nominations 2023

by paulieb2003@gmail.com

Hello Everyone! Sorry for the hiatus, but you know, holidays and all that. Welcome to February! I heard the groundhog saw something so we might be in for a doozy! But I doubt it. Below are the nominations. Let me just tell you, Spielberg is only in this race because it was about his own personal history. Otherwise, this film is extremely mediocre and should be no where near this list. People literally thing Spielberg invented movies and the things they give him credit for, day in and day out makes my head spin. I swear some people think he invented air. I mean it’s ludicrous.

Anyway – Banshee and Maverick are two movies that should win – they are what movie making is all about. Maverick brought people back into the theaters in a big way – and also showed Hollywood the right way to do a sequel. You don’t just rehash the same story again, you progress the characters and put them in a new story to show what they have learned and how their lives progressed. That is how you do a sequel. Not just the same story with same characters and the same blueprint. I’m glad Tom Cruise is still around to show these punks how it’s done. I weep for the future.

I will give you my favorites and my pics next week – so don’t worry – plenty of more Oscar talk to come!
