1995: The Best Summer of Music Ever

When I look back at pop culture in the summer of 1995, many things come to mind. Baseball was back after a strike shortened 1994 season. Diesel and Shawn Michaels were on top of the wrestling world. Seinfeld had just wrapped up a memorable sixth season. Batman Forver, Cluless and Apollo 13 were the big movies to see. What about the music? Looking back at this summer, it was hit after hit being played on the radio and MTV. Yes, MTV used to play music.

Pop icons Michael Jackson and Madonna were still going strong. There were one-hit wonders from Blessid Union of Souls, Del Amitri and Martin Paige. Hootie & the Blowfish were the hottest band in the world and Alanis Morrisette was about to take the music world by storm. From there, we were introduced to a couple of bands that would have success in the years to come in Foo Fighters and Dave Matthews Band.

This was such a memorable summer with an unforgettable soundtrack. Let’s face it, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing Waterfalls by TLC and the theme song from Friends.

Let’s travel back in time and take a look back at all of the hits from the best summer ever!
